Drafted by the organization in the ninth round in 1998 out of high school Madson is one of four members of the 2008 team still on a major league roster, with Chase Utley, Cole Hamels, and J.A. Happ being the others. 40 of his 82 appearances in 2008 were in the eighth inning where he allowed 10 extra-base hits the entire season en route to Lidge. Madson also finished 14 games and saved one with an ERA a hair over three.
