Phillies Spring Training: Truck departing for Clearwater

Phillies pitchers and catchers report next week

Phillies baseball season is approaching quickly with pitchers and catchers reporting to the Carpenter Complex in Clearwater, Florida on Feb. 14. After celebrating the Philadelphia Eagles Super Bowl parade the Phillie Phanatic and his crew helped pack the tractor-trailer headed to Clearwater.

The truck will drive 1,059 miles from Citizens BankĀ Park to the Carpenter Complex, and is expected to arrive on Sunday.

One extra passenger was spotted on the side of the truck as it departed down Citizens Bank Way.

General manager Matt Klentak hopes to add one more starting pitcher to the list of participants headed to Clearwater. The organization recently signed several players to minor league deals to compete for a job off the bench. Deals became official for outfielder Collin Cowgill and infielder Ryan Flaherty on Friday, both of whom will compete with Pedro Florimon for a spot on the 25 and 40-man roster.
