It was another tough week of Phillies baseball.
After a nice four-game winning streak, the Phils have continued to slide. There were some bright spots offensively but the bullpen, with the exception of Pat Neshek, has continued to falter.
Here are the best and worst from June 4th to June 10th.
Most Valuable Position Player: Runner Up
Howie Kendrick
Kendrick continues to impress as of late. This week, the veteran utility man hit .412 with a .500 OBP while compiling three extra base hits. Kendrick also showed off his wheels swiping two bags.
Most Valuable Pitcher: Runner Up
Ben Lively
Lively had another decent outing this week. The righty threw seven innings of three run baseball but would end up taking the loss. Lively has continued to impress after making his major league debut on June 3rd.
Least Valuable Position Player: Runner Up
Maikel Franco
A .107 average won’t get you far at any level. Franco had another forgettable week last week, and it’s becoming commonplace. Hopefully, a good game or two puts him back in the swing of things.
Least Valuable Pitcher: Runner Up
Luis Garcia
This spot could have gone to nearly anyone in the bullpen, but Garcia earned it just the same. Garcia gave up five runs in just 3.2 innings of work this week. The righty gave up three hits, walked three and struck out three over the three games he saw action in.
Least Valuable Position Player
Michael Saunders
Not much debate here.
Saunders had one hit in six games this week…basically, all we need to discuss for this week.
Least Valuable Pitcher
Adam Morgan
Morgan gave up four hits and three earned runs in just 1.1 innings of work. It may be time to give another lefty a chance at this point.
Most Valuable Position Player
Odubel Herrera
Odubel, or should I say Odouble, went off this week. He recorded seven doubles during this stretch and was the primary catalyst offensively for the Phils. You never know what you’ll get with the fiery center fielder, but it seems fair to say that the Phillies goes as Herrera goes.

Most Valuable Pitcher
Aaron Nola
Nola went 1-1 on the week scattering four runs over thirteen innings of work. Nola looked good coming off the DL, and his 12 strikeouts show that his arm is live once again.
