Brad Lidge is working with the Phillies spring training as a special instructor

Brad Lidge knows a thing or two about playing in the city of Philadelphia. He helped carry his 2008 Phillies team to a World Series and is now looking to pass that knowledge and experience onto the next generation of Philadelphia champions.

Working as a special instructor in Clearwater Lidge is primarily focused on developing the bullpen arms. Jeanmar Gomez, Hector Neris, and Edubray Ramos are soaking it all in when Philadelphia’s perfect closer is out on the field working with them.

Meanwhile, Lidge admitted to missing the game and sees a lot of talent coming through the organization.

The veteran closer likes what the Phillies have done restocking the organization after going on a spending spree during his tenure in the city.

"There are a lot of young guys, and I will say this though. The Phillies have done a very good job through the draft and through some trades that they’ve made because I know on the pitching side there are some ‘horses’ … in the upper levels of the minor leagues. Big bodied guys that throw the ball really hard and really well."

While many speak of the potential the organization has looking forward, Lidge sees more than that on the team right now.

"I think the starting pitching and the bullpen are going to be set up very soon. I think the quality of the arms and the character of the guys they have has been outstanding to see so far.I think they’ve set themselves up for a lot of success really soon."

Hearing someone like Lidge believe the organization is set up for success sooner than later is a great feeling if you are a Philadelphia sports fan at this moment.
