PHILLIES KEYS TO VICTORY OVER MARLINS

CONTROL OZUNA & YELICH: the concern over Stanton is obvious to most fans. However, the Fish boast one of the most talented young outfield combinations in the game today. This past weekend, those fans got a look at the exciting Pittsburgh trio. Well this Marlins group of Stanton, Ozuna, and Yelich is every bit as dangerous and talented. Focusing on Stanton only is a huge mistake, and the middle of the Miami order needs to somehow be contained if the Phillies are to manage even a single victory in this series.

EXPLOIT MOUND MATCHUPS: the Phillies are catching the Fish at a good time, rotation-wise. Right now, Fernandez is their only real dominant starter, and he won’t go in this series. As mentioned earlier, there is the intriguing possibility that the Phils may need to end up facing their own projected starter in the opener, Hellickson, at some point in this series if a trade goes down on Monday. If not, any reasonable evaluation of the pitching matchups favors the Phillies. That is, among the starters. The Miami bullpen, especially the 4-5 right-handers, can lock down the late innings.
