Here is a quick recap of what each of the Phillies minor league squads and some of their top prospects did last night as they work their way up to the big leagues.

David Buchanan allowed six runs (five earned) in five innings as he took the loss for Lehigh Valley. The one time Phillie walked two, struck out two, and also gave up a three run home run with two outs late in his outing.

The bullpen produced three one hit innings, courtesy of Michael Mariot, Luis Garcia, and Bobby Lafromboise.

Top prospect J.P. Crawford continued to struggle at the plate as he went 1-4 with a strikeout. His batting average has dropped to .200 since joining the Triple-A club earlier this month.

Nick Williams managed a double while striking out twice and scoring a run. Andrew Knapp and Cam Perkins each had a hit that drove in a run apiece.

The Iron Pigs will look to avoid being swept by Pawtucket Thursday in a battle of top pitching prospects Jake Thompson (2-4) and Henry Owens (3-2). Owens, who spent time in the big leagues this year, was the Red Sox top pitching prospect and at one point the #20th best prospect in baseball.

Reading won on a walk-off home run on back-to-back nights against Erie, this time in extra innings. Shortstop Angelo Mora hit a two-run home run in the 11th inning to give the Fightin’ Phils their 31st win of the season.

The Fightin’ Phils have won 7 of their last 10 games.

Generally the offense was productive once again for Reading. Jorge Alfaro continued his hot streak with another multi-hit game. Alfaro along with Mora, Jesmuel Valentin, and Jake Fox all went 2-5 Wednesday night.

Dylan Cozens hit his 13th home run, this one a three-run jack off of Seawolves starter Anthony Fernandez.

Roman Quinn, after going 5-5 last night, went cold with an 0-5 performance that featured two strikeouts.

Reading starter Anthony Vasquez pitched six innings, allowing 12 hits and four earned runs. He did strikeout six batters and lowered his era to 2.24.

Mario Hollands pitched an inning and two-thirds where he struck out three and allowed two hits. Joely Rodriquez got the win after pitching a perfect 11th inning that included a strikeout.

The Phillies third round pick from 2014 John Richy (2-1) will take the mound Thursday looking to take a home third straight win against the Seawolves.

Clearwater suffered their 19th loss of the season as they fell 7-2 to the Manatees. Starter Ranfi Casimiro allowed five runs (four earned) off six hits in four innings. A two-run home run to Elvis Rubio in the second inning helped Brevard County build a four run cushion early.

Reliever Victor Arano also allowed two runs and two walks in three innings of work despite striking out five.

Jesse Therrien struck out the side in his one inning.

Scott Kingery went 1-5 with his 17th double and a strike out. Outfielder Carlos Tocci finished 1-4 in the loss.

The lone power Wednesday evening came from DH Zach Green, who launched his sixth home run of the year mid-way through the game.

The Phillies 21st ranked prospect Elniery Garcia (3-2) will look to stop the bleeding for Clearwater, who have lost 6 of their last 10.

Lakewood Minors

The Lakewood Blueclaws scored early and often in their 9-8 win after being shutout by Hagerstown. They scored all nine of their runs between the second and fourth innings, aided by zero home runs and only two hitters having a multi-hit game.

Brendon Hayden, Wilson Garcia, Jan Hernandez, and Jiandido Tromp each had a double and combined for all five of Lakewood’s RBIs.

Garcia had the best night, going 3-5 with a double.

Hagerstown’s pitching got zero help from their defense as they allowed two errors in the infield, which allowed the other four unearned runs to cross the plate for Lakewood.

Luke Leftwich earned his fourth win of the year for Lakewood as he went five innings and allowed five runs (four earned), five hits, three walks and managed four strikeouts.

Jacob Waguespack earned his first save of the year after going two and two-thirds innings and striking out three.
