Phillies and Fans on Phancation
By Matt Veasey
The flight that fans have been waiting for finally takes off on Sunday. The Phillies and their fans are off for anywhere from 4-7 nights at the Now Jade Riviera Cancun on the Riviera Maya.
The Phils, in conjunction with Apple Vacations, offer fans a chance to escape the cold of another Philadelphia winter, and bond with a few of the team’s players and other club representatives.
This year, starting pitcher David Buchanan and reliever Justin De Fratus will make the trip. They will be joined by former players Greg Luzinski and Tommy Greene, broadcaster Gregg Murphy, trip host and Phillies Director of Public Affairs Scott Palmer, and the Phillie Phanatic.

What is billed as the “Phillies Phancation” package includes a private welcome party, photo and autograph session, and numerous games with the celebrities. There is a special group photo, as well as special gifts for the guests.
The price of the trip ranges from $1,229 to $1,599 depending on your length of stay. There will be a group from January 10th-17th, another from the 11th-18th, and a shorter stay group from the 11th-15th.
The price of the trip includes your round-trip airfare on a “Phillies Express” flight, transers to and from the resort, deluxe hotel accomodations at the Now Jade Riviera Cancun.
Perhaps best of all, the Phancation is an all-inclusive, meaning that all of their meals, drinks, snacks, and tips are included in the price of the trip.

The Now Jade Riviera features 24-hour room service and free Wi-Fi. There are three swimming pools, including an Infinity Pool, and there is a swim-up bar. The beach has ‘beach beverage’ services.
When it’s time to chow down, there are a variety of specialty restaurants, a buffet, a cafe, and a music lounge.
So over the next week, a lucky group of fans will get to not only pow-wow with the Phillies, but they’ll get to bask in sunshine and warmth while we battle another January in Philadelphia.
They do this every year, so as 2015 advances you can checkout the Phillies website for information, and you can be among the fans joining the Phillies on the January 2016 Phancation.
