Emotional reaction immediately after the game
Should it really be this tough against the Diamondbacks?
Less emotional reaction after thinking about it a bit
They survived a weak start by Cliff Lee, made an exciting comeback, and can go for the series win today. Good times.
Heroes
Cody Asche had a game-tying two-run double down the first base line. Carlos Ruiz continued his hot week with three more hits.
Goat
Martin Prado‘s error started the Phillies’ big rally in the eighth inning. In the ninth, after successfully stealing second, his foot came off the bag and after a review, he was ruled out.
Today’s Game
Philadelphia Phillies (12-12) at Arizona Diamondbacks (8-19)
Game time: 4:10 PM
TV: CSN
Starting pitchers: A. J. Burnett (0-1) vs. Brandon McCarthy (0-4)
Preview
The Phillies should now realize that they can’t take an apparent edge in the starting pitching matchup for granted. In last night’s game, Cliff Lee struggled, while Bronson Arroyo pitched well. So they shouldn’t assume that A.J. Burnett will simply outpitch Brandon McCarthy.
McCarthy has not had a good season, but in his one career appearance versus the Phillies, he shut them out for eight innings. Hopefully the Phillies can finally do some damage against an Arizona starter. In the first two games of the series, most of their offense has come once the Diamondbacks have gone to their bullpen.

The Phillies got a huge break when replay ruled Prado out in the ninth inning. No one may have been more fired up than the Phillies’ bench coach.
