Phillies Would Recognize Matt Harvey

Fresh off his late night television appearance with Jimmy Fallon and All Star Game start, Matt Harvey continued to own the Phillies in a 5-0 Mets victory.

Harvey struck out 10 and allowed just three hits.   He is now 4-0 and with a 1.08 career ERA against the Phillies.  If you don’t long for Matt Harvey to be a Phillie and hate him just as much, you should.  He is good and will be dreadful to play against for the foreseeable future.  I guess it is a good thing he is stuck on the Mets.

Cliff Lee also gave up three of something. Unfortunately for the Phillies it was three home runs.  In his last start he allowed four home runs.  It is clear he is getting better and learning from his mistakes.  See, there are positives in this loss!

There are several more negatives though, if you are into that.

One of the home runs Lee gave up was a three run shot to something named Juan Lagares.

Domonic Brown struck out four times.

Jonathan Papelbon pitched the 8th inning and looked worse than the version we saw right before the break.

Maybe this calls for one of those closed door team meetings?  There weren’t even dug out shenanigans  to blame this one on.

The Phillies are off tomorrow before they start at three game series against the St. Louis Cardinals. It is still a mystery whether the team will be buyers or sellers.  However, a series loss to the Mets helps bring a bit more focus to the picture.
