The Philadelphia Phillies' outfield needs substantial help to perform down the stretch of the season. June is moving right along, and the Phillies are still getting below-average offensive output from their outfielders in 2025. It's never too early to take a look ahead at the trade deadline to remedy the issue, and two names come up as immediate solutions: Jarren Duran and Kyle Stowers.
Max Kepler was this team's lone outfield acquisition and has been borderline unplayable. In 62 games, he's hitting .210/.296/.380, for a .676 OPS that ranks 26th among all qualified National League outfielders. The Phillies desperately need help in their outfield, with Weston Wilson and Kepler manning left field every day.
As a team, the Phillies are batting .223 in June. It now also hurts the offense even more with first baseman Bryce Harper going on the 10-day injured list. They are sputtering offensively, so a shake up in the outfield would sure go a long way right now.
Both Duran and Stowers were recently picked by FanSided MLB insider Robert Murray as popular targets around Major League Baseball leading up to the trade deadline on July 31.
Jarren Duran could find himself on Phillies with possible shake-up in Boston
The Boston Red Sox are well on their way to another mediocre season, and a shakeup could be in the mix for them. No. 1 overall prospect, outfielder Roman Anthony, has been called up for his opportunity in the majors, so a trade for Duran could be a possibility for the Phillies if the Red Sox need to make room on their roster.
Duran had a breakout year last year in Boston posting a .834 OPS and finished third in fWAR with 6.7. His fWAR finished only behind Aaron Judge (11.2) and Juan Soto (8.1). Duran delivers elite pop and is always an extra-base threat, as he lead baseball in 2024 in doubles (48) and triples (14). He finished with an All-Star selection and was eighth in AL MVP voting.
He's not having as strong a season as last year, but is still hitting .271 with an above average .746 OPS, four home runs, 18 doubles, seven triples and 14 stolen bases. He would be a dynamic player to add to the Phillies' outfield mix at only 28 years old, with a club option for 2026.
This is unbelievable 😮

Kyle Stowers could be the next Marlin to depart Miami
Stowers seems more like a move the Phillies would be comfortable making. Maybe not as flashy of a name as Duran, but Stowers, a now 27-year-old outfielder, has batted to a .274/.342/.470, good for an .811 OPS. He has 10 home runs and 33 RBIs for the struggling Miami Marlins this season.
A former 71st overall draft pick of the Baltimore Orioles and a one-time top prospect, Stowers is still developing into an established major leaguer, but has a high ceiling and remains valuable as an outfielder under team control through 2029.
