Major League Baseball recently conducted a major fan poll, asking for fans of the Phillies and the other 29 organizations to submit their choice for the top four players in the history of each franchise.
The voting closed in MLB last week, and here at TBOH we polled our staffers, asking for their own choices. Below are the results of that poll, showing the overall top four winners, as well as displaying how each of our writers voted.

In all, 8 of our staff writers participated, and they named a total of 8 different Phillies greats to their lists. Two players were selected unanimously, Mike Schmidt and Steve Carlton. The other winners were Richie Ashburn, who received 6 votes, and the all-time franchise hits leader Jimmy Rollins with 5 votes.
Also receiving support from our staff were Hall of Fame pitchers Robin Roberts and Jim Bunning, recent vintage star 2nd baseman Chase Utley, and there was even a vote for hometown World Series hero Jamie Moyer.
You can still participate in something similar. All during the month of May here at TBOH, we are conducting a fun takeoff on the idea, asking for your votes in our “2008 Phillies Four” – the four players you felt were most important to the Fightin’ Phils drive to the World Series title.
