In the 2015 season, Phillies fans will be able to spend entire weekends with one Michael Jack Schmidt. It was announced today that Schmidt, who joined the TV crew for Sunday home games a year ago, will now do both Saturday and Sunday home games this coming season.
The Phillies already had announced the addition of ex-big leaguer and local product Ben Davis to the TV team for 2015. He will be replacing Jamie Moyer, who left to spend more time with his family and charitable pursuits.

Returnees on the Comcast Sportsnet TV broadcasts are Tom McCarthy, Matt Stairs, and Gregg Murphy. The radio team of Scott Franzke and Larry Anderson backed by Jim Jackson will also return.
This was a logical extension for Schmidt. As quoted today by Todd Zolecki, Schmidt explained: “I’m already in town. I actually come in town Wednesday and play golf a couple days with sponsors. Why not just do the game Saturday night? So all of them, once they iron it out. The only thing that would stop it would be negotiating the fee.”
Mike Schmidt retired in 1989 after playing his entire 17+ season career with the Phillies. He clubbed a franchise-record 548 career homeruns, was a 3x NL MVP, 12x NL All-Star, 10x Gold Glover and is widely considered to be the greatest 3rd baseman in baseball history.
Schmidt led the team to its first-ever World Series victory in 1980 when he was named the MVP of that Fall Classic, was selected by The Sporting News as the ‘Player of the Decade’ for the 1980’s, and was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility in 1995.
