Hamels Wild in Phillies Victory

Cole Hamels walked a bunch of people today.  He also gave up a bunch of hits and runs.  It is starting to look like Cole wants spring training to be over as much as the rest of us do.

Hamels has a spring ERA of 6.23 witch is close to double his career ERA of 3.50.  What does all this mean?  Good question.  It means that Cole is “working on things” like every other pitcher in the damn league and he is ready to for the games to actually count.

Danys Baez pitched 2 1/3 innings allowing two hits and no runs earning the win.  Baez is 2-0 with an ERA under one.  Looks like Danys will be making the team this year.

John Mayberry, Shane Victorino and Erin Kratz all hit home runs for the Phils today.  Mayberry is leading the team in homers and RBI making a pretty convincing case for the job of fourth outfielder. As spring crawls forward toward the regular season, the Phillies roster is really starting to shape up.  Let just hope that one of the players vying for the job of replacement Utley make rumors of Luis Castillo only rumors.

In spite of a shaky outing from Hamels the Phils won today 7-5.

Tomorrow the Phillies take on the Yankees at 1:05.
