After a season of struggling offensively and defensively, Alec Bohm could use a break. DH-ing might be the best way to give him one.

Bohm came into the 2021 season riding high, the runner-up for 2020 NL Rookie of the Year. But his second season in the majors quickly fell apart. He went from hitting .338/.400/.481 with a .881 OPS in 2020, to a meager .247/.305/.342 with a .647 OPS in 2021. Defensively, he made 15 errors in 103 games at third.

Moving Bohm to the DH effectively cuts his to-do list down to one thing: improving his hitting. There were encouraging signs amid the struggles of 2021; his exit velocity increased, as did his percentage of hard-hit balls.

On the other hand, being the DH and having to come off the bench every few innings to hit is a lot of pressure, which might not be the best thing for the young player after his sophomore slump in 2021.
