Game 3: Vince Velasquez (PHI) vs. José Ureña (MIA)

Phillies’ Vince Velasquez:
Vince Velasquez will be starting for the Phillies in the series finale. Entering his fifth season with Philadelphia, Velasquez has a career 4.67 earned run average with his 2019 season contributing greatly to the high career ERA.
In five seasons in the MLB, Velasquez has yet to finish a season with an ERA under 4.00. Velasquez is certainly not the best starter in the Phillies staff and the Phillies could definitely do without him – however, manager Joe Girardi decided to keep him on the rotation despite his rough past seasons.
Known for his shaky starts and inconsistent pitching, Phillies fans were quick to call for the removal of Velasquez from the team’s roster last season. Velasquez has a lot to prove this season if he wants to keep his spot in the rotation, or even on the roster.
Marlins’ José Ureña
Marlins veteran Jose Urena gets the ball for the team in the series finale. Urena is no stranger facing the Phillies, and the Phillies offense has typically gone down silent when Urena is on the mound.
In 2019, Urena finished the season with a 4-10 record and a 5.21 ERA over 13 starts. Over 174 innings pitched, he racked up 130 strikeouts.
The Dominican-republic born starter faced the Phillies a total of three times in 2019 and in all three starts were quality starts.
With the series finale, it’d be interesting to see what kind of offense the manager Joe Girardi’s squad is able to produce against Urena.
