Andrew McCutchen

Andrew McCutchen is a name that’s emerged on the trade market late for the San Francisco Giants. After learning starter Johnny Cueto could undergo Tommy John surgery, the team appears prepared to move some of their less controllable players.

Jon Morosi points to the Phillies as a potential option for McCutchen as Philadelphia tries to solidify their bench and outfield rotation. McCutchen fits the mold of what Philadelphia appears to be looking for, a veteran bat with playoff experience who can help a young clubhouse.

While he’s hit just .258 with 36 extra-base hits this year, the former MVP could be a lightning rod and leader for the Phillies going into the playoff race. The price should be too high for McCutchen, and a pitcher in the lower level of their minor league system could command his services.
