Phillies Prospect Update: Who Might Be on the Move at the Deadline
By Josh Starr

JoJo Romero, LHP, Reading
JoJo Romero was just placed on the disabled list with an oblique strain, but he is still a valuable asset for the Phillies in trade talks.
In eighteen starts this year, Romero is 7-6 with a 3.80 ERA. Just like Medina, Romero is 21-years-old and is at a higher level this year than last. He’s had a bit of trouble adjusting but has been a solid starter of late.
Romero hasn’t given up more than two runs since June 9 and hasn’t given up more than three runs since June 4. In his last ten starts, he’s pitched at least six innings in all but two of them. In those two starts, he still managed to last five innings.
Romero could be part of a trade for another depth hitter like Asdrubal Cabrera or a bullpen arm to strengthen the Phillies’ back end. He most likely won’t bring back as much as Medina would, but as we saw in 2008, the smallest additions can make the biggest impact to a team.
