Phillies: 3 Washington Nationals players to watch this weekend
Despite hitting a career-worst .209 for Washington, Bryce Harper leads the league with 19 home runs and 53 walks. Slump or no slump, Harper can still hit against the Phillies, whom he’s hit 22 home runs off.
Harper also has historic numbers against Aaron Nola, who is scheduled to pitch on Saturday. Nola has allowed two home runs and a .471 batting average to Harper in 17 at-bats, the highest average Nola has allowed to an opposing batter with at least 10 at-bats.
Harper is also 2-4 with two home runs against Nick Pivetta, who gets the ball on Sunday night for the Phillies first ESPN game of the season.
He’s not hitting like the perennial MVP candidate, but Harper is as dangerous to the Phillies as anyone.
