Scott Kingery

Scott Kingery impressed in limited action last spring, posting a 1.019 OPS in ten games along with making multiple stellar defensive plays. It was enough that some fans wanted him in the majors to start the year, but he instead went back to Double-A.

Kingery went on to hit 26 home runs with a .304/.359/.530 line in 132 games between Double-A and Triple-A last year. He rocketed up prospect rankings, being ranked the third-best prospect in Philadelphia’s system and No. 31 overall in baseball according to Baseball America.

This spring, Kingery will be making an impression on a new coaching staff in Clearwater. They’ve likely heard plenty about him, but whatever they see firsthand will leave the biggest mark. While Cesar Hernandez still being in Philadelphia likely excludes Kingery from starting the year in the majors, look to see if Kingery can repeat his strong performance in spring training again this year.
