The Phillies can’t score runs, but they sure can pitch….right? The Phillies offense managed to score thirteen runs and handed Roy Halladay a six run lead. This is a slam dunk right? It seems like a recipe for success. The broadcast team even went over Roy’s career winning percentage when being handed anything over a 4-0 lead. He was perfect. He had never lost. Sure thing?

The offense did a really nice job working the count against Tommy Hanson. They had him out of the game after 3 2/3 innings after allowing eight hits, four runs and two walks. Based on what we have come to expect from Halladay and Hanson, this was supposed to be a pitchers duel. It wasn’t.

Halladay strode to the mound in the fifth inning with a 6-0 lead and we all had a feeling that this one would be an easy win. (more…)

It is really a shame when a starting pitcher gives up three hits, hits a home run and still can not earn a win. Cliff Lee threw an extremely effective outing following his meltdown in the eighth inning of his last start against the Blue Jays. One run over eight innings will win most ballgames, but he was paired against Braves right hander Tommy Hanson, who matched him allowing four hits in seven innings of work. Each team only managed a solo home run off the starting pitcher, meaning that this game came down to the bullpens. (more…)

If only we were dealing with a division that featured competent starting pitching of any kind. OH WAIT A SECOND.

You may remember FanSided’s NL East All-Division offense. Everybody from Ryan Howard, Chase Utley, and other people that no one can remember were all voted by our NL East editors and skyrocketed to [further] stardom.

Well, this team, if it wants to be at all affective, is going to need pitchers. Well, myself, and the lead writers of Tomahawk Take, Teddy Never Wins, Rising Apple, and Marlin Maniac banged our heads together and voted for the following guys. If only we were dealing with a division that featured competent starting pitching of any kind.

OH WAIT A SECOND (more…)
