But clearly, Ruben isn't about beating around the bush this offseason. Unless that bush has a valuable free agent hiding in it. Because meeting the War Machine face-to-face is a truly terrifying experience.

When Ruben Amaro fires up the Offseason War Machine, it becomes impossible to turn off, like a nuclear missile that for some reason has no failsafe. Thundering to life, it tears across the winter horizon, dragging whichever free agents it desires back to Philadelphia to await the coming spring.

It has already reclaimed Jim Thome. Now, it seeks out Michael Cuddyer, whom you probably remember from 190 different blog posts last July listing him as a potential target for the Phillies midseason pick up. (more…)

Needless to say, the next eight balls went to right, where I did not go to them, because I was now the co-left fielder.

We just talked about how refreshing and wonderful Roy Oswalt is, so let’s talk about how downtrodden and emotionally destroyed Domonic Brown is.

“I experienced a lot. This is the first time in my career I really had to deal with a lot of failure. I’m learning how to cope with that. It’s just trying to stay positive and learn as much as I can.”

–Dom Brown

Moving from right field to left field may not seem like that big a deal. For instance, I was once forced to make the move in the middle of a game. It turned out the dramatic waving and shouts coming from my coach meant he wanted me out of the game, not that he wanted me to move to left field, as the left fielder tried desperately to explain. Needless to say, the next eight balls went to right, where I did not go to them, because I was now the co-left fielder. (more…)

It's almost as if the past few months of shouting at each other has been a complete waste of time

Who would have thought that all this speculation, drama, and hand injuries would wind up exactly how some people predicted it? It’s almost as if the past few months of shouting at each other has been a complete waste of time. I almost lost my job for screaming at a co-worker who I thought had said Dom Brown was overrated, but it turned out that he was just looking for the water fountain and that he was not actually a co-worker. And did I say I “almost” lost my job?

The truth is, Charlie doesn’t really know anything. And that’s… that’s fine. (more…)
