Ty Wigginton began his major league baseball career as a Met in 2002. Since then he has played for a shit ton of other teams. Today marked his career high in runs batted in as he went 3-3 with six RBI and a home run. He opened the scoring with an RBI double off of Met starter Jonathan Niese. He walked twice and followed that up by putting the Phillies ahead with an RBI single. He added insurance with a three run homer in the top of the ninth. In every one of these circumstances, I was fairly certain that Ty was going to strike out. Good thing he didn’t.

Jonathan Niese had a really difficult time finding the strike zone today. He walked five in five innings and with a modicum of patience from the Philadelphia offense, he could have walked double that number. Is is pretty frustrating to watch this line up flail at a guy that is obviously not going to throw the ball over the plate. (more…)
