The Marlins have hurled themselves onto the dock and begun flopping about and gasping for air, in an attempt to get everybody’s attention.  Fortunately, the internet exists, so all the things they’re doing have somewhere to be discussed rationally.  But I believe Hanley Ramirez sums it up best.

"If your heart is in your dream, no request is too extreme..."

It must take a lot out of you to be a Nationals fan, let alone their General Manager.  But Mike Rizzo, in signing vets Jason Marquis and Ivan Rodriguez, as well as drafting this “Stephen Strasburg” character in the first round, claims he’s following a proven formula for success:  Your Philadelphia Phillies.

Awww.

That’s not a patronizing “Awww,” but more like a self-congratulatory one.  Which, now that I think about it, might be an equally repulsive personality trait.  Even so, when teams in your own division start labeling you as the team they want to be when they grow up, you feel like you’re doing something right.  And clearly… we are.

Rizzo’s not a jackass; he knows this 100 mph arm Strasburg’s got isn’t the life raft that all the Nationals can pile into.
