“I saw Joe Jordan is your new director of player development,” he sneered with all the boldness he certainly would have done so in real life.  ”That’s worse news than Howard’s Achilles.”

I didn’t have to know if he had a point, but sadly, there is no small “X” on the future of the Phillies’ farm system that I can click to get rid of the whole mess.  His taunts stayed with me, as taunts always do, but instead of sealing myself in my bedroom and sharpening a machete for three or four days, I thought perhaps some research was in order.

Because as often as I say things here, I very rarely know a ton about them.  And Joe Jordan is a very normal-sounding name.  Is he a very normal director of player development? (more…)

Speaking of LaMar, did you know there is an entire book written about him and how he almost killed the Tampa Bay Devil Rays?  I didn’t read it yet but the subtitle is “How One Man Nearly Sunk a Franchise,” so it is becoming alarming that he was every employed within the Phillies organization.

But Chuck and whatever horrible cataclysms he’s brought about have been replaced by Joe Jordan, formally of the Orioles. (more…)
