Ah the doubleheader. I think that my favorite part of the doubleheader is getting to listen to the early game on the radio. Larry Andersen and Scott Franzke are really good/borderline great broadcasters while Chris Wheeler and Tom McCarthy show up for work on time. I like Sarge, mostly because he is absolutely ridiculous. It also makes me feel considerably better when my favorite team wins both games of said doubleheader as I get to run the gamut of Phillies baseball announcers. (more…)

Jack McKeon is not coming back next year. Apparently he would rather spend his days quietly descending into age related insanity than put up with the crap associated with managing Hanley Ramirez. Perhaps he will spend his time learning the ins and outs of Twitter giving him the ability to reach out to Logan Morrison and threaten him into not using the site anymore. Oswalt Not Sharp in 6-5 Loss

I got all excited after Roy Oswalt’s start against the Nationals. His fastball reached 94 on the radar gun and he struck out nine batters. There were times in this start that his fastball was around 90 MPH and no one was swinging and missing at it. That in itself isn’t a reason to sound the panic alarm, but coupled with the fact that he allowed five hits including a grand slam to a catcher with a .235 batting average in the sixth inning makes it slightly more disconcerting.
