Any day Dane Sardinha has a zero % chance of being in the lineup makes wherever the Phillies are a magic kingdom in and of itself.

“I’m here now to stay sane and run around and take batting practice and do whatever they need to see me do. I’m ready to get back out there.”

Well, you heard him. Brian is spending most of his time running around and staying sane, like a border collie. But the important thing isn’t how he’s getting better. Its that he’s getting better. The more important of the important things is that the sooner he gets back, the sooner Dane Sardinha can go back to the windowless basement he gets chained in when he’s not being used to take up space/ruin everything.

I never even considered that Brian could come back to us completely insane. I was just glad he’d be back; I didn’t think we’d have to worry about Ryan Madson furiously shaking him off for five minutes as Brian calls for pitches that do not exist.

It’s not weird that there is a book about this stuff, Dutch. It’s weird that you’re the one who wrote it.

I’m on the road this weekend so your precious book review is going to be a repeat from a while ago when I was obsessed with Darren Daulton briefly. This was before people actually read this blog, so its probably new to you anyway. Who even are you?

“If They Only Knew”

Darren Daulton

Let’s say I’m John Q. Metaphysicist.

I’m probably younger, probably feeling lost, probably vulnerable to anything that resembles an answer. I have a vague knowledge and understanding of my studies; the multiple dimensions, that everything is connected and what we see and experience is based on vibrations and light.

If my interest in the topic is genuine, and not just a dabble in a passing fad, what I need is somebody to sit me down and explain in a somewhat detailed and informative way the concepts with which I have allied myself. Then and only then will I be truly aware of what’s up and be able to make a decision based my own accord.

Darren Daulton is not the man to be explaining metaphysics to anybody.

It’s not weird that there is a book about this stuff, Dutch. It’s weird that you’re the one who wrote it. (more…)

Its never easy to lose a third or fourth string catcher. Who of us can say they weren’t sucked in by the sturdiness of Hoover’s defense, and the .300+ of his batting average over 25 plate appearances in 2010? Only those with souls made of cement, that’s who. But Paul’s gone now; whisked away by the tepid allure of the greater Boston area. The endless drawing power of Massachusetts in winter claims another (more…)
