I apologise to everyone about the timing of this post. I spent the last few days laid up with a stomach virus, managing to watch this game laying in bed using that game-day function on mlb.com. If you have ever watched a game with this thing, it is essentially a strike zone with a guy standing on its respective side of the plate, with the balls and strikes indicated by different colored circles. If I could have gotten out of bed, I would have turned on the radio.

Hey! Look at that! After all the fat jokes and trade rumors, Joe Blanton has looked down right impressive of late. He gave up one run on six hits in seven innings of work. (more…)

This is the Cliff Lee that we remember from his heroics against the Yankees the last time we saw him as a Philly. Based on the reaction that Lee received when he trotted in from the bullpen, everyone in Citizens Bank Park remembers what Cliff Lee is. He is an ace

Cliff Lee. He spurned the Yankees to come back to us. He came back even though the national media thinks we are boorish loyalists. He pitched in Philadelphia five times in 2009 and a few more times in the playoffs. We were smitten. (more…)

Spring training starts for veteran pitchers tend to go one of two ways: 1. They pitch well, say that they felt good, but they are still trying to dial in their location. 2. They pitch like crap, say that they felt good, but they are working on something. There is a third option exercised by Brad Lidge today, which consists of having something wrong with you and not pitching in the game. (more…)
