The Phillies and Marlins were originally going to open their series Tuesday night, but rain postponed the game to a later date. Most of the information about Wednesday’s game carries over from Tuesday.

Rain is a non-factor in the forecast Wednesday night, so there should be no trouble with playing the game.
Velasquez will make his fourth start of the season for Philadelphia. He has a 7.20 ERA and 1.67 WHIP for the season. In his last outing against the Mets, Velasquez gave up three runs in six innings while allowing three hits and three walks.

Nick Pivetta was originally set to take the mound tonight for Philadelphia in place of Aaron Nola. Instead, Pivetta is slated to make his major-league debut Sunday against the Dodgers. This allows the team to keep an extra bullpen arm (Mark Leiter, Jr.) on their roster for some time.
Utility man Ty Kelly was added to the roster Tuesday, so he will be available as well.
Meanwhile, Chen will take the mound for the Marlins hoping to continue his success from his outing last week against the Mariners. Chen did not allow a hit in seven innings against Seattle, and his WHIP for the season stands at 1.063.
One batter Velasquez will have to watch out for is Christian Yelich. In eight at-bats, he has three hits, two of which were home runs.

Several Phils hitters have found success against Chen in their careers. Freddy Galvis, Cesar Hernandez, Odubel Herrera, Tommy Joseph, and Daniel Nava all have batting averages over .400 against Chen.
