Top 5 Phillies Phantasy Producers at the Break

facebooktwitterreddit

At the all-star break, the Phillies found themselves not unexpectedly with the worst record in the Majors at 29-62. That record has the club 21 games out of first in the NL East as we prepare to open the traditional 2nd half of the season.

While some prognosticators said the team could be historically bad, many fans of the Fightins’ disagreed, and thought that they were being too harsh on the team. The closest winning percentage to the Phils’ .319 mark belongs to the Brewers who hold a .422 percentage.

To put this Phillies team’s current plight into perspective, the Brewers are currently in last place in the NL Central. However, if the two teams were in the same division, the Brewers would hold a 9 1/2 game lead over the Phillies.

That in itself is depressing for die-hard Phillies fans. But through all the bleak spots, there have been some bright ones. None has been more bright than rookie third baseman Maikel Franco, especially in the fantasy game which is where I’d like to shift the focus.

After 91 games, the following are my top 5 fantasy producers for the Phils’, each of whom should continue to produce over the final 71 games:

SP. 5-7, 3.63 ERA, 116.2 IP, 1.22 WHIP, 123 K's. Cole Hamels. 1. player. 6. <strong><a href=

2. player. 6. Despite ending the first half of his rookie season in an 18-game home run drought, Franco is having a very solid rookie campaign. The 3rd baseman has shown flashes with the glove and the bat. Of course in the fantasy game, it will be his bat that garners all the attention. I look for Maikel to have a few ups and downs after the break, but he should finish out the season as strong as he began the first half.. 3B. .284/.339/.495, 10 HR, 34 RBI, 31 R. Maikel Franco

<strong><a href=. OF. .297/.337/.379, 1 HR, 23 RBI, 45 R, 21 SB. Ben Revere. 3. player. 6

player. 6. <strong><a href=. CL. 1-1, 1.60 ERA, 33.2 IP, 0.98 WHIP, 35 K's, 14 SV, 14 SVO. Jonathan Papelbon. 4

player. 6. In his 3rd season with the Phillies, <strong><a href=. 2B. .280/.364/.355, 1 HR, 25 RBI, 31 R, 12 SB. Cesar Hernandez. 5
