Wandy Rodriguez Fails Phils Physical

So much for the Phillies rolling the dice on Wandy Rodriguez. The left-hander, rumored for weeks to be on the verge of signing with the club, has reportedly failed his physical.

Once informed of this development, Rodriguez and his representative immediately turned to their “Plan B”, signing instead with the Atlanta Braves.

Rodriguez reportedly has received a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training with the Braves, who apparently did not share the Phillies concerns.

The Phillies were not counting on Rodriguez. Instead, he would have been yet another low-cost, high-reward option to bring to camp and see what happens.

With so many potential roster questions, including in the rotation, they hope to find one or two surprise gems. Now we’ll see whose doctors were right, the Phillies or Braves, as the 2015 season develops.
