Pharm Phocus: Biddle loses, Aaron Brown hot and more


The Crosscutters lost 5-1 to the Mahoning Valley Scrappers on Saturday.

Jose Pujols had one of seven Williamsport hits and drove in the only run.

Mitch Gueller took the loss and went 5.1 innings in his start, allowing two runs on four hits.


Tyler Viza‘s record fell to a lopsided 3-16 as the BlueClaws fell 4-2 to the Hagerstown Suns on Saturday.  Viza surrendered three runs on seven hits.

Aaron Brown continues to rake for Lakewood.  The Pepperdine product was drafted in the third round by the Phillies in the 2014 draft.  He went 3-for-4 Saturday and is now hitting .538 in three games as a BlueClaw.


Brian Pointer hit a three-run blast in a 7-5 Threshers win Saturday.

J.P. Crawford drove in a pair of runs and went 2-for-4.

Lee Ridenhour recorded a four-out save, his eighth.


Reading was swept by the Binghamton Mets in a double header Saturday.  Game one was 1-2 and game two was 3-7.

Jesse Biddle went 3.2 innings in his game one start.  He took the loss and gave up two runs on four hits.

Reading bats were silenced by Daisuke Matsuzaka who started for the Mets in game one.  He gave up a run on three hits over six innings.

Aaron Altherr drove in three runs in game two with his first inning home run.


The IronPigs were shut out 5-o Saturday by the Buffalo Bisons.

Tony Gwynn, Jr. was 2-for-3 with a walk and now has a .474 batting average.  Gwynn has at least one hit in each of his last six games.
