Philadelphia Phillies Place Reid Brignac on 15-day Disabled List

Just when things were looking up for the Philadelphia Phillies, another setback has transpired.

According to reports, the Phillies have placed infielder Reid Brignac on the 15-day disabled list with a left ankle sprain. The Phils also activated third baseman Cody Asche from the DL after suffering a left hamstring strain.

This injury couldn’t have come at a worse time. The Phillies are riding a four-game winning streak, and Brignac has been playing some phenomenal baseball lately. The 28-year old has been doing a solid job of replacing Asche, and with the starting third baseman’s return, it looked like the Phillies would finally have another good hitter off the bench.

For the season, Brignac is hitting .258 with one home run and 10 RBIs. He has also provided the Phillies with some clutch hits, including a couple of walk-offs.

Hopefully Asche can pick up where Brignac left off.
