Cesar Hernandez, Cody Asche Plot to Destroy Triple A All-Star Game

There’s no question about who the Phillies triple A All-Stars are going to be!  Because they’ve told us.

Half the IronPigs’ infield is headed to beautiful Reno, Nevada for a shot at the International League Midsummer Classic.  They are Current Phillies Already-Debuted Backup Second Baseman Cesar Hernandez and Definite Third Baseman of the Future Unless Maikel Franco Leapfrogs Him Cody Asche.

STATS STATS STATS

Cesar Hernandez:

Both are 23, and currently playing positions the Phillies may possibly need filled in the near future.  Nobody is calling them Titans of the Game, because that is a term no one uses to describe things, but it’s a nice thought to have as we try to distract ourselves from the possibility of Chase Utley scarpering out of town.

Asche is seventh in the league in hits (89) and tied for third in triples, whereas Hernandez leads the league in three-baggers (7).  Hernandez is also third in stolen bases, but to be fair, he plays in the same league as Billy Hamilton, who is in first base by over 20 steals.

So get excited, because nobody’s within screaming distance of a reasonable All-Star Game start in the big leagues.
