Hey Look! Baseball is Almost Started!

Phillies pitcher Phillipe Aumount attempts to justify being traded for Cliff Lee.

We all know that today’s baseball game against the Florida State Seminoles was not quite the start of the Grapefruit league schedule.  John covered earlier that this game does little to approximate even spring baseball, but it does inch closer to real baseball than does me repeated exacting revenge on the Cardinals on various video game consoles.  Keep in mind that these type of games give us a more than a fleeting glance of players like Tuffy Gosewisch and Pete Orr.

Some of starters took some at bats.  Jimmy Rollins, Hunter Pence and Shane Victorino took an at bat a piece and managed not to hurt themselves.  John Mayberry Jr. started at first base and left five men on base and Domonic Brown was by a pitch but was not hurt.  The highlight of the cavalcade of random pitchers utilized in the game today was a chance to watch future closer Phillipe Aumont.  He threw an inning allowing a hit and struck one guy out.

The game was decided by a Hector Luna two run home run.  I pretty much guarantee that I will never write that again this season.  6-1 Phillies win.
