I know the Inquirer and DN beat writers are hardly pultizer winners - or even the ashes of manuscript thrown away by a pulitzer in disgust - but the articles the last couple days have seemed PARTICULARLY terrible.

BREAKING NEWS: Columnists write "provocative" pieces TO SELL NEWSPAPERS. Well, the joke's on Frankie Fitz. I'd much rather spend my hard-earned cash on my next Phillies toothbrush than on his rag that I can read for free online.

I tell ya, the timing of this could NOT be worse. The very day that my crate of "Good Game, Let's Go Eat" tshirts arrives, and now Frank Fitzpatrick's left me to wonder if that was an unnecessary purchase!

The idea that most of the people at a Phillies game wear Phillies apparell is a real eye opener. I wonder how he would suggest we maintain our individuality? Perhaps of all the Phillies fans, we could set aside a certain number to root for the other team. Then another portion could root for the umpires and we could have still another portion root for various Sumo wrestlers and German League soccer teams. Maybe have a few people root for nobody and just contemplate why sports exist and whether their existence is a force for good.
