Cliff Lee; Professional Bad Ass

Cliff Lee has driven in more runs at the plate during this homestand than he has allowed.  He is an undoubtedly bad motherfucker.  This is the type of unsustainable dominance that we have all been irrationally hoping for since Lee spurned the Yankees.  Lee threw a two hitter and went 2-3 with the games’ first RBI on a double over the head of Marlin’s right fielder Mike Stanton.

The handsome left hander is now 7-5 on the season and trails only Roy Halladay in the strikeout department.  In addition, with today’s 3-0 victory, the Phillies have now won seven straight.

Lee’s goodatbaseballness helped the Phillies to sweep the Marlins and moved them into the  National League East basement.  It seemed like only yesterday that the young upstart Marlins were all cute and two games out.  I suppose that is what happens when you lose seven consecutive games.  Personally, I blame the veteran leadership of Greg Dobbs and Wes Helms.  They suck.  To add insult to injury, the Marlins just moved Josh Johnson to the sixty day disabled list.

Other non-Lee related positives in today’s game were another opposite field home run from Ryan Howard and a 2-4 day at the plate from Shane Victorino.

Tomorrow, the Phillies travel to Seattle to play against Ichiro and a bunch of baseball players that no one has ever heard of.  Roy Oswalt gets the assignment against rookie phenom Michael Pineda.  Get ready to stay up late everyone.
