Bastardo struck out the side in the tenth inning, following a scoreless ninth from Danys Baez. The bullpen did a great job tonight tossing four innings of one hit ball. Thanks in large part to the heroics of these non-heroes, the Phillies won the game 4-2.
Hamels Good at Throwing Baseballs
Hamels struck out Will Venable, intentionally walked Alberto Gonzalez and got opposing pitcher Clayton Richard to line out to short. The threat was averted and San Diego did not get another runner in scoring position for the rest of the game. Cole threw a ton of pitches (126 in all), but was in total control of the game and saved the Contreras-less bullpen with his outing.
