Players Momentarily Distracted by Alien Spacecraft

Play resumed several seconds later when the unidentified object turned out to be the baseball that had just moments before been in Mike Pelfrey’s hand.

“It was so far away, so fast,” Pelfrey uttered as Ryan Howard circled the bases, putting the Phillies up 2-0.  ”I just assumed there was no way it could have been the same baseball.  Teleportation had to have been involved in some way.  And who was that kind of technology?  Aliens.”

This questionable logic did not pay off for the rest of the game.  When asked about the grand slam he gave up to Howard innings later, Pelfrey explained, “Witches.”  And the RBI single to Ben Francisco:  ”Dinosaurs in fighter jets.  Baseball is a complicated game.”
