Ibanez to DL, Mayberry to Take Place

AUTHOR: | IN: PHI Phillies | COMMENTS: None Yet

Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Raul Ibanez has been placed on the Diasabled List today because of a strained groin injury. John Mayberry Jr. has been called up in his place. The Phillies are going to have to find a new way to score runs with Ibanez out, because he has been carrying the Phils with 59 Runs Batted In. This would be the perfect time for Ryan Howard and Chase Utley to catch a fire, and light up opposing pitchers, but whether that happens will remain to be seen.  It really does not matter if we have Ibanez or not, (though [...]

A Rivals Take On The Variables In the Phillies-Mets Rivalry

AUTHOR: | IN: PHI Phillies | COMMENTS: None Yet

Recently I decided to get you, the fans closer to the game by interviewing some of the writers for the rival teams such as the New York Mets, Atlanta Braves, and even the Boston Red Sox, to get a beat on how their team is similar to ours in terms of philosophy. This week, I interviewed Milo Taibi, from the Rising Apple. Here is his take on some of the things that may effect the Mets and Phillies rivalry. TBOH: With the latest series between the Mets and Phillies at a close, I noticed your bullpen is only a little [...]

Phils Drop Tough Extra Inning Outing

AUTHOR: | IN: PHI Phillies | COMMENTS: None Yet

It was a pitchers duel all the way. That is, until the top of the 13th inning. Both of the starters, Boston Red Sox’s Jon Lester, and Philadelphia Phillies Joe Blanton pitched gems, as well as their bullpens, but it was to no avail, as both of the starters got a no-decision. The 1st inning often times can predict how the game is going to turn out, and what style the game itself will take on. Well, this game took on it’s style from the very first out. So yeah, the game was a pitchers duel all the way to [...]

Phils Come Back To Even Series

AUTHOR: | IN: PHI Phillies | COMMENTS: None Yet

Starting pitcher Cole Hamels was out after 5 innings. The Mets pitcher drove in a run for the second straight game. The Phillies night could not have been much worse, up until the four run rally that they have become famous for. This was the first time Philadelphia Phillies ace Cole Hamels had pitched at the new Citi Field. Based in his whole career, it was a major disappointment. Hamels gave up 4 earned runs in only 5 innings, and he tied his career high with 11 hits given up. Early on, it was looking like Mets pitcher Mike Pelfrey [...]

Ibanez Can Prove He’s Clean (In Many Different Ways Too!)

AUTHOR: | IN: PHI Phillies | COMMENTS: None Yet

Let’s start off with a big round of applause for the blogger that came up with this incredulous idea  for an article. Tuesday, a blogger for Mid-West Sports Fans wrote on his blog speculating on whether Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Raul Ibanez has used steroids this past off-season to get the numbers that he has posted so far this year. Ibanez is second in the league in homers with 20, and has drove in 55 runs, and is batting .327 on the year. So, with those type of stats when your career average is only 23 homers in the whole year, [...]
